This is the Smart Phone Card Trick created by Keith Hanshaw. This magic trick uses the NFC technology in about 100+ android smart phones. Purchase this effect from your local magic shop (Dealers contact Magic City) or buy one directly from our website by scrolling to the bottom of this page.
This magic trick requires a smartphone with NFC capability. The performer doesn't need NFC in their phone, but the spectator's phone must have it. Just ask them if it looks like a new smartphone. If their phone has it, they'll know! The iPhone 5s or 6 will hopefully include NFC as almost all of the android and blackberry platforms are now using it. Take ANY deck of cards. Have a spectator select ANY card. Have the spectator touch all over his selected card, to get his fingerprints on the card. Return the card to the middle of the deck and return the deck to it's box. (You could shuffle the cards before putting them back in the box if you like.
Ask the spectator to place his thumb print in the center of the deck of cards. Using the spectator's smartphone, have THEM open their barcode scanner and getting the lense of the camera as close as possible to the fingerprint, scan the fingerprint on the deck of cards.
The barcode scanner will now scan the fingerprint, scan down through the entire deck and try to find a matching card with the same fingerprint AND THEN go out to Google and try and find an image of the card that it thinks you selected. When it finds it's selection it displays it on the spectator's own smartphone. The magician never touched the phone and it's a regular deck of cards.....

After working for a chain store doing pen and ink illustrations for their advertising publications, I decided to free-lance. We had $78.00 in the bank, four kids and I quit my full time job. Ginny always believed in me even though it was a terrible time as far as money was concerned. She never complained or told me to get a real job; my father-in-law told me that. Ginny has always been behind me, no matter what was happening.
I then spent 8 years as Art Director for ITT Avionics Division, a defense contractor. I found out that I wasn’t meant to be in the “Corporate World” and went back to free-lancing. We moved to Florida, spent 8 years there and that’s where my entire life changed.
I met John Meyer. At that time he was the head of H&K Training Division. He approached me about doing a few drawings for a poster advertising their training facility in Sterling, Virginia. I said yes and produced seven vignette drawings for the poster. It was a series of SWAT Officers doing what they do so well. I didn’t think much of it. The check cleared and I forgot about H&K. When the poster was distributed world wide, the receptionist at H&K threatened to quit. The telephone lines lit up with SWAT Officers from around the world wanting to know who was doing these drawings and how could they get copies. That was the beginning of our fabulous life. We literally started at our kitchen table. I produced four sketches, the first of hundreds and hundreds to come. The rest is history. Ginny and I have been all over the world, from England to Germany to Abudabi and Dubai and all over our wonderful U.S.A. God has blessed us with a wonderful life filled with good friends in the SWAT Community and Corporate World. Half of our business is from our on-line sales of prints and half is from Corporate Commissions.
I never tire of drawing, especially the SWAT/Military world. Ginny and I admire and pray for all of the fabulous people we meet in our business. They are the brightest, bravest and best that our Nation has to offer. Our hearts break when a Police Officer or young Warrior dies in battle. We are all poorer for the loss of such wonderful young men and women. I feel honored to be so close to them and what they do. After working for a chain store doing pen and ink illustrations for their advertising publications, I decided to free-lance. We had $78.00 in the bank, four kids and I quit my full time job. Ginny always believed in me even though it was a terrible time as far as money was concerned. She never complained or told me to get a real job; my father-in-law told me that. Ginny has always been behind me, no matter what was happening.
I then spent 8 years as Art Director for ITT Avionics Division, a defense contractor. I found out that I wasn’t meant to be in the “Corporate World” and went back to free-lancing. We moved to Florida, spent 8 years there and that’s where my entire life changed.
I met John Meyer. At that time he was the head of H&K Training Division. He approached me about doing a few drawings for a poster advertising their training facility in Sterling, Virginia. I said yes and produced seven vignette drawings for the poster. It was a series of SWAT Officers doing what they do so well. I didn’t think much of it. The check cleared and I forgot about H&K. When the poster was distributed world wide, the receptionist at H&K threatened to quit. The telephone lines lit up with SWAT Officers from around the world wanting to know who was doing these drawings and how could they get copies. That was the beginning of our fabulous life. On October 5th, 2013 in Irving, Texas, the 20th year anniversary of Task Force Ranger Mogadishu will be remembered with the Mogadishu Mile 5K road race. Gray Water Ops is the designer of the award medallions as well as the 2" coins. These limited edition test run versions were minted to see the 3D detail in the ghostly image of the men running. After looking at another option, we decided to change the design to a black painted image rather than 3D detail for that part of the coin.
